AMAZING APRIL — last call

This is the last week of April and so this is a quick reminder of all of the specials and opportunities this month that will only be available while supplies last or for the rest of this week!

Last Call - SE1The Seasonal Expressions #1 Catalog had so many amazing products:

Three “Workshop Your Way” Paper Collections:  CHARLOTTE, PENELOPE, AND REGATTA

two “must have” ribbons — must have because they’re so versatile — 1/4″ wide ribbon of Black w. Metallic Gold and White w. Metallic Gold

Fun sparkly embellishments packs – TREASURED PUFFIES in gold foil and PLAYFUL PUFFIES in silver glitter

and so many fun stamp sets!!!  You can see two of my very favorites in this picture.  The ocean creatures and beachy sentiments from Beach Days stole my heart… I know I’ll be able to use that on so many scrapbook layouts!  And then there’s an unglamorous stamp set towards the back of the catalog that’s too easy to overlook BUT Stamps of Approval is just fantastic for masculine and age/neutral cards and gifts.

Here’s the link to see the whole Seasonal Expressions Catalog online.  And here’s the link to start your own order.

Life in Pictures – Stamp of the Month

Just a few days left to grab you’re own LIFE IN PICTURES stamp set.

If you’ve been following my blog this month you’ll know how much I’ve enjoyed this set and I have two more cards to tell you about in posts on Tuesday and Thursday!

This is our April Stamp Set of the Month and it is only available this month — for the rest of this week.  As always you can get it for just $5 with a $50 order or you can purchase it for $17.95.

 Last Call - Convention 2016 RegistrationConvention 2016

This year Close to my Heart is hosting the annual convention in Disneyworld and I’m so excited to be going.  All Consultants are eligible to go and sign up is open for the remainder of this week but if the space fills up it might close earlier than that.

♥ There is nothing like the excitement of seeing the new catalog, watching demonstrations and seeing art made with new products among a group of Scrapbookers and Stampers who are as excited about this hobby and business opportunity in the already magical world of Disney.  It makes the happiest place on earth… even happier!

Last Call - Studio JStudio J

And then on a sad note :-(, this the last week to create scrapbook pages and more with Studio J — Close to my Heart’s online scrapbooking program.  I will really miss how easy it is to use, how quickly you can create amazing scrapbook layouts and how economical it is.  Earlier this year I was able to complete about 5 vacations worth of scrapbook layouts in the time span of a long weekend.  And when you create a slew of layouts and have them shipped to you, opening that box and putting so many completed layouts into your albums is soooooo satisfying!!!

If you have started layouts, be sure to go online to finish them up this week.  And the earlier you can order your projects, the better because the system may get bogged down as we get closer to the end of the month.

♥ Here’s the link to go to Studio J.

Best wishes to you for a great week ahead!

April SOTM – Life in “Mini Album” Pictures

More crafting with the LIFE IN PICTURES stamp set!Apr2016 - Mini Album

I had so much fun creating this Mini Album

(which I’ll give to a friend who recently had a new baby!)

Close to My Heart calls this the Hip Pics Album (Z1956) and it’s part of the My Creations line of goodies for paper crafting like blank calendars, an assortment of mini albums, containers for little gifts and favors.  All sorts of fun to be had!!!

This Hip Pics album is made of sturdy Kraft Chipboard and includes 16 white photo pocket pages to hold 4×6 photos.  The photo opening is a square so each page has some white space to allow for decorating (stamping) or to jot down a few notes about each picture.

INSPIRATION - A card on Pinterest inspired my design for the cover of this mini album which — at 5.25″ wide x 6.5″ tall — is just a little bigger than your average greeting card.  So any card design you see anywhere, can be easily adapted to create a one of a kind cover on a mini album for yourself or someone else!

TECHNIQUE TIP - I chose the basic camera image from the LIFE IN PICTURES stamp set and stamped it onto the glossy side of a scrap of Saddle Paper Fundamentals cardstock.  That’s why you can see that circular design on the black body of the camera.  There’s a close up photo below.  I really like how easy it was to do that!!!

Apr2016 - Mini Album - detail

OTHER DETAILS – In addition to using the April Stamp Set of the Month, I used the view master image from the Reel Life (B1431)stamp set, the Woodgrain Embossing Folder (Z1996), a few self-adhesive Red Enamel Hearts (Z2009) and ink pads in Black and Saddle.  Send me an email to let me know if you’re interested in the exact colors and dimensions of the cardstock elements used to create this album cover.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!!!  I hope my friend enjoys adding pictures of her sweet new bundle of love into this album AND I hope you’re inspired by this project.

I have a couple more cards to share with you in the days ahead while the Life in Pictures stamp set — so check back with my blog this weekend and next week.  LIFE IN PICTURES is still available to buy… for just $5 with a $50 order — but only in April 2016 so don’t delay.

April SOTM – Life In Polaroid Pictures

Apr2016 - Smile PolaroidThis card makes me feel like I’m transported back to the 70s!  How about you?

This version of the Polaroid camera provided the same social fun at parties and celebrations that photo booths do now.  It’s amusing to me that years (and decades) go by, technology changes drastically but the “constant” of how people have fun stays the same… being goofy and taking pictures of the shenanigans.  And no matter what decade you were being goofy with your friends and family — this  month’s Stamp Set of the month surely has an image of the type of camera you may have used!

There’s always a reason to gather with friends and celebrate each other!!!

INSPIRATION – When I was browsing the April 1st Rose Blossom Blog Hop featuring this stamp set I noticed that we all created scrapbook pages or home decor featuring photos.  I recently had some time to play with this stamp set of the month and was determined to create something other than scrapbook pages.  So that’s what inspired me to make this card that I adapted from a Lawn Fawn card I saw on Pinterest.

TECHNIQUE TIP – I used Shin Han Markers directly on a piece of white shimmer trim to create this sparkly detail on my polaroid camera.  Here’s a close up picture.  Apr2016 - Smile Polaroid - detail

  • I stamped that part of the camera onto my shimmer trim first using Memento Ink and
  • then I just colored in between the lines with the markers (in these colors:  R5, Y222, and BG61).
  • I trimmed it out, removed the film covering the adhesive of the shimmer trim, and then I stuck  it onto the camera I had stamped onto White Daisy cardstock.

OTHER DETAILS - In addition to using the Life In Pictures stamp set images on this card, I used the Framework Alphabet stamp set (E1027) for the “smile” letters and the Banner Wishes stamp set (B1438) to add the “It’s a Celebration!” sentiment beneath that.   I stamped the words around the camera using Peacock, Pomegranate, and Honey ink pads AND I colored in my SMILE letters with our Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen.  I ADORE our Shimmer Trims available in 13 gorgeous colors;  even if you use it sparingly, it makes your artwork stand out!  And how dyn-o-mite that you can color the white shimmer trim into any color you want using the Shin Han markers!!!

You can only get this stamp set in the month of April 2016!

As always you can order it for $17.95 OR — better yet… with a $50 order, you can get it for just $5!

S1604 - Life in Pictures - set of 13 stamps

S1604 – Life in Pictures – set of 13 stamps

So there’s only one week left to get this stamp set and you can shop online right here!

Thanks for visiting my blog today!!! I hope this project brought you some fun memories and new inspiration!  Keep checking back on the blog for the rest of the month to see what else I came up with Life in Pictures.

Baby You’re Worth It! (“it” = CTMH Cricut Cartridges)

RB Blog Hop Banner

It’s the 15th of the month so it’s blog hop time! If you’re coming from the charming and talented Kim Sparks blog (Memories in Thyme) I’m sure you enjoyed her vibrant scrapbook page and you’re in the right place.  If you’re starting with me, that’s great too.  As you read through this blog post, I’ll give you a link to the next Rose Blossom in this Blog Hop circle and there are 9 of us participating this time.   Welcome to my blog!  I’m so glad you’re visiting!!!

Our hop this month is about an AMAZING offer for new consultants joining us in April!

If you join my teamNight Owl Scrappersthis month you’ll have a tremendous opportunity to earn a Cricut cartridge in addition to a starter kit full of fantastic crafting and business supplies, generous compensation from CTMH and the perks for new consultants in the Straight to the Top incentive program.

April 2016 CC

And this is on top of all the fun, inspiration, and friendships that are part of being in this group!  The hardest part about this special promotion will be choosing which Cricut cartridge!!!  I love and use them all, all the time.  In fact for this card, I used elements from both Artfully Sent and Art Philosophy  which are two of the five CTMH Cricut Cartridges available.

Card with Cricut elements and April-16 SOTM

INSPIRATION – from a card I found on Pinterest by Debby Hughes.

  • background created with the stars stamp from the Charming Cascades (D1668) Stamp set.
  • camera image from the April Stamp of the Month Set — Life in Pictures (S1604).
  • speech bubble came from Artfully Sent (awesome for fancy and interactive cards) and the scallop shapes under the camera came from Art Philosophy (my go-to cartridge for basic shapes and layering elements).

Finally I made the body of my camera look like it’s Lagoon+White print by stamping the camera on the glossy side of a scrap of Paper Fundamentals Lagoon cardstock;  I cut out the body of the camera and adhered it on top of the camera that I also stamped on a scrap of White Daisy cardstock.  You have to choose a symmetrical camera for this to work with a solid image stamp.  You can buy everything I used to create this card from my online store — here.

FUN FACT –  I’m not very experienced at coloring with Alcohol Blending markers but I do love the Warm Gray + Blender Pen to add just a little dimension to white spaces.  And I really love that you can use them to color embellishments!!!  I used the Cerulean Blue marker to color the white enamel star on the camera.  You can double-click the thumbnail picture below to see that up close.
